Pod rental; what exactly is it? You may have seen them in your neighborhood, a large white box sitting on someone’s driveway. They look very much like a storage locker that has escaped its walls and is now at a neighbor’s house. That in a nutshell is what a Pod is; a moveable storage locker that you can rent, set at your house for you to fill up and either leave it temporarily at your house or at the company’s main housing facility.
Picture this; you are moving soon, and want to pack up some things and put them somewhere out of the way while you do more packing or cleaning. You could rent a typical storage unit, but then you have to have a way to get your belongings to the unit. This would require twice as many steps in comparison to simply putting your things right in a storage unit and having the entire unit picked up and stored at an offsite facility. And don’t even mention the fact that you may be stuck with a storage unit that can only be reached by an elevator or worse, stairs.
Pod Rental for Moving
Also, Pod rental is perfect if you are moving across town or cross country. A Pod can be placed on your property; you pack and fill it at your leisure. Then, when you are done packing and ready to move, the Pod company will come pick up the Pod and transport it to your new home, ready for you to carefully unpack and move in. This can be done as quickly or as leisurely as you wish.
Pod Rental for Remodeling
Another great idea for a Pod rental is if you are remodeling a part of your house and you simply don’t have the space available to store things while you are working. Perhaps you just want to make sure things don’t get broken or covered in dust and or paint while during the remodeling. This may be a case where you want the Pod to stay on your property if for a short term.
If you are looking at any of these scenarios, keep in mind that with a traditional storage unit, you have to pay for the space you rent.
In other words, to maximize your dollars, you have to have a pretty good idea of how much stuff you have to store and how much space you will need without wasting a lot of space. Pod rental is a little different in that you can be a little more lax in your estimating. If it looks as though you may need two Pods, rent two, and end up using one, you can cancel one of them and be refunded the cost of the second. Try that with a traditional storage company!
All in all, Pod rental is a highly convenient way to store your things either for moving or simply to get them out of your house for whatever reason. The elimination of many hassles associated with typical storage rentals makes a Pod a great storage alternative.
